Redwave is a passive stereo color processor built around a rare, matched pair of NOS Carnhill VTB1148 output transformers.
Originally designed for high-level professional line applications, the VTB1148 brings weight, density, and harmonic depth that’s difficult to replicate with modern designs. Redwave places these transformers directly in the signal path, allowing program material to pass through pure iron—no active circuitry, no amplification stages, just the natural response of the core.
A switchable 6 dB pad network allows you to drive the transformers harder while maintaining usable output levels, opening up a range of tonal behavior from subtle glue to more saturated, forward character.
Redwave is designed as a finishing stage—something to sit across a mix bus, subgroup, or stem and bring shape, cohesion, and presence in a way that feels physical.
